Who needs a mentor?

When You Are Early In Your Career

Are you early in your career. You just need some reassurance and guidance that you are doing the right things right.

You will want t to get some know how about navigating the workplace and influencing others.

When You Are New To The Mortgage Market

The mortgage market can feel overwhelming at times, with lots of opinions and jargon.

So let's build market nous quickly and give you that confidence to succeed.

When You Are A Marketer Working Alone

When you work alone, you can second guess decisions. You can feel isolated.

You want to learn you want to develop and advance. I understand all of that, and give you that

When You Are A Senior Marketer

Are you an experienced marketer? Then the mentoring here is more about perspective.

The focus is  on leadership, commercial confidence and influence Mentoring provides a sounding board to sense‑check decisions, explore challenges, and reflect on how to lead effectively in a complex, people‑driven environment

"I wish I had known that earlier
in my career"

I remember when I first  worked with my mentor & coach, I wasn't quite sure what I was doing.

That quickly changed. And I recall telling people it was the best thing I ever did. And that I should have done it earlier in my career, because the things I learned were invaluable.

That is why I say that regardless of experience, mentoring offers time and space that is increasingly rare - a chance to think clearly, develop confidence, and grow deliberately rather than reactively.

I will demystify the world of marketing and leadership, sharing what I learned during my career and what I still learn today.

Mentoring: What Do We Focus On?

Deepening market understanding and perspective

Confidence grows when marketers truly understand the environment they operate in.

Mentoring helps build that wider perspective. It supports marketers in joining the dots between market conditions, customer needs and business objectives, so decisions feel more informed and better grounded.

Building confidence, resilience and clarity over time

Mortgage marketing can be demanding. Pressure, pace and scrutiny are part of the landscape.

Mentoring helps marketers develop resilience by creating a regular space to reflect, make sense of challenges, and maintain perspective. Over time, this clarity builds confidence — not through bravado, but through understanding and experience.

Giving You  Space & Time To Think

Perhaps most importantly, mentoring creates something increasingly rare: time to think clearly.

Away from immediate pressures, day‑to‑day execution and external noise, mentoring allows marketers to pause, reflect and grow deliberately - rather than learning only through reaction.

Honing Those Leadership Skills

Technical marketing skills are essential, but they’re rarely enough on their own.

Mentoring supports the development of softer skills that underpin effective leadership, emotional intelligence, self‑awareness, communication, influence and creativity.

These are what allow marketers to navigate complexity, work confidently with stakeholders, and lead discussions rather than simply respond to them.

Mentoring: How Does It Work?

Before we begin, we will meet to agree the following:

  • What you want to achieve

  • How often we meet

  • Where we meet - virtually or in person or both

  • How long you want the programme to last - usually six to 12 months.

  • You will then get a detailed mentoring plan, with costs, timings and success measures.

  • If you wish to begin mentoring, we agree our first meeting.

You can combine Mentoring with a Fractional CMO if circumstances are relevant.

Ultimately, mentoring works because it gives marketing professionals the time, perspective and confidence to grow deliberately rather than simply reacting to what’s in front of them.
